You do not need to be involved in the pot to observe what’s happening around the table. Follow closely how players decide on what to do with their cards and after a while you will be able to handle them better and gain a deeper understanding of what kinds of cards win in certain scenarios.

What makes a top poker player you ask. Is it their patience to wait for the best cards? Is it their ability to carry out an excellent bluff? The skills are a lot and may vary but among the best skills of the poker greats is how they can read hands. The skill of knowing what your opponent holds is a skill that has been learned and not just a gift from the heavens. Make most of the time while out of hand and observe your opponents:

Aggression

Take note which hands they bet or raise. Some players will raise when they form a flush while some will just be happy to call. Will they bet after the flop when they have an Ace high or will they wait for a pair? Try to observe if they bluff a lot. Are they more aggressive when they play from the late position?

Position and starting hand

A lot of players play only the best of cards when they are early to act. Some players do not really care about their position and play any card. See how your opponents vary their play depending on position.

Bluffs

See who among your opponents love to bluff and see who does not use the art of bluffing.

Calling Stations

See who are the calling stations as you can make most of certain situations to win some chips.

Blinds

Notice who raises from the blinds and force to defend their blinds. See who among your opponents are more discrete playing from the blinds since they will only be playing their good cards.

This book should be there on the bookshelves of all the poker players who are serious about carving a niche in the game. The book spells out diverse set of approaches and insights about the game which helps the player in a tremendous way. All the chapters have been designed to improve and sharpen your poker skills.

Are you aware about the diverse varieties of poker games available online? Texas Holdem is one of the most popular online games but there are other poker games as well. You can earn money as well as make new friends. It is good way of investing your time and money.

This article will introduce you to a multitude of poker games. Omaha Poker game is quite different from Texas Holdem. This game is easily available in most of the poker rooms. When you would observe Omaha Poker game you will find it very similar to Texas Holdem poker game.

The distinct difference in the rules between Omaha and Texas Holdem is that the former is played with 4 cards and players need to use 2 cards from their hand. Many seasoned poker players prefer playing Omaha than Texas Holdem because you have four cards and your odds are better for winning a pot.

Have you heard about seven card stud poker? Seven card stud poker was a popular game before the launch of Texas Holdem. There are no similarities between Texas Holdem and seven card stud poker except the rankings which are a constant factor in poker games.

This game involves four bets in each round which includes one bet and three raises. This game has many options for betting and winning the pot.

Five card stud poker is similar to seven card stud poker in diverse ways. There is a betting round after a new card is given to the players at the poker table. But there are a few dissimilarities as well. Two cards are laid for the players one of the cards is face down and other is exposed to all. After the betting round there is another round in which cards are dealt which are exposed to everyone. Betting continues after the fourth card is laid. The final round of betting takes place after the fifth card is distributed to the players.

Another popular poker game is Razz. Razz is similar to seven card stud poker game in most of the spheres. The major difference in both the games is that players are aiming at getting the lowest hands on the poker table. In this game straights and Flush are not really counted against you. In the game of Razz the lowest hand is Ace, two, three, four and five. Ace is a low card in the game of Razz.

Howard Lederer is a solid player. He’s always been and will probably keep playing his solid 1990′s style poker until he dies. There’s nothing wrong with that. But… durrrr steps up to the plate and plays a completely different type of poker. He goes up against Howard Lederer here with inferior holdings, plays the hand very strangely, and scoops a large pot, leaving The Professor in doubt as to what he could have done to win this hand…

Click here to view the embedded video.

Tom Dwan is something special and I guess Howard Lederer found that out right here… I still think Howard should have shoved pre there…
